What is the difference between Pentax DSLR K-X Black and any other colours?
I found Pentax K-X black cheaper than navy ,white and red or any other colours!. Does the black body has a different specifications than others,/regards
It's just the color. It's like when they released Pentax K-m with black and white edition.

Should I get the Pentax K-X or the Canon Rebel XSI?
I am new to the DSLR arena, but I have heard the Pentax K-X uses AA batteries which may be a deal breaker. I think overall the Pentax K-X is a better camera, but I don't want my camera to die on me early.
I have read many favorable reviews about the Pentax K-X camera, and it sounds like it would be a great entry level unit.
But I have owned 3 Canon D-SLR's (along with 10 EF and EF-S lenses) and I can say that it is clear why Canon (along with Nikon) own the Lion Share of the D-SLR Market. Their cameras are Bulletproof. I absolutely love every aspect of the Canon D-SLR Line. The XSI has an awesome 3" LCD and takes absolutely beautiful pictures. From the Reviews that I've read about the Pentax, it sounds like they've got a great "start" with their D-SLR Body...but what they don't have is the incredible line of Lenses to compete with the Canon Line. Maybe in 10 years, they'll get there...but for now, Canon has a huge line of their own lenses, plus many quality lenses by other vendors such as Sigma.
Thinking about purchasing the Pentax K-X with 18-55 lens..can I use a macro with this lens to shoot jewelry?
Pentax K-X SLR camera..comes with an 18-55 lens..does anyone know if I can shoot close-ups with this lens by just changing the setting on the camera? I would like to photograph large objects, such as a chair..and change the setting quick to photograph the details on a ring or piece of jewelry..and have fine details picked up. Help!
Cheap add-on lenses are going to give you a couple of things that product photography abhors. Soft edges and either barrel or pincushion distortion.
I could ask if this is the first time you have used a fully adjustable camera before (which by nature uses interchangeable lenses), but I think it would be moot. If you goal is to shoot both "regular" things like landscapes, people and a little portraiture as well as small items like jewelry, you need a proper macro lens like the Pentax 50 mm f/2.8 macro lens and a tripod, light tent and some lighting. http://www.pentaximaging.com/camera-lens… http://www.obnphoto.com/items/lighttent/… http://x.manfrotto.com/site.html What you are describing is what one can expect on a P&S camera with an all in one lens (since you cannot change them), but now you are in an area that versatility is the goal of a photographers choice of tools and you are going to have to be prepared to buy the tools you need for each type photography
Is the Pentax K-x a good camera for skateboarding photography?
comes with a pentax 50-200mm f/4-5.6 ED lens and a 18-55mm lens.
Sure, any DSLR can be used to shoot action photography of any kind.
While those lenses have an excellent range, many "skateboarding" photographers like to use extreme wide angle lenses, even fisheye lenses. Pentax makes two lenses that may fit into your style of shooting. The ultra wide angle 15 mm: .http://www.pentaximaging.com/camera-lens… And the Pentax 10-17 mm "fisheye" zoom http://www.pentaximaging.com/camera-lens…
What is better Pentax k-x vs Canon Rebel XS?
well i know the pentax has more megapixels pentax= 12.4mp , Canon= like 10 i think and i know the pentax shoots video in HD the canon does not but the price of the canon is cheaper is the extra money worth it?
The reason to go with the Pentax K-x is the ability to take great pictures in low light which is far superior than what Canon Rebel XS offers. You can use all Pentax lenses ever created.
I just purchased a Pentax K-X dSLR..and I am looking for an inexpensive super macro lens to shoot jewelry..?
I need a super macro lens for my Pentax K-X SLR..I am wondering if anyone knows an inexpensive brand of super macro lens that will fit on the Pentax K-X. I need one to shoot close up shots of jewelry, coins, etc..
Can't recommend a lens, but when you get one, try this site for all you need to know on how to shoot..

Pentax k-x What is a good lense to get?
Im looking to get another lense with my camera other then the kit lense. What would be a good lense to get next? And as of right now Im looking for one of the lenses that dont cost too much. Thanks in advance.
Oh and it can be any type of lense. I am new to photography and am unsure of what kind of lense I should have other then the prime kit lense.
Go to the flea market. There are lots of Pentax K mount lenses there that would fit your camera. If you are lucky, you'll find some real gems like a Takumar. You will have to use them at manual mode though. Don't worry, focusing will be assisted and metering will be functional. You will now have to decide the settings by yourself and start being truly creative.
Just be wary of the Ricoh pin. If the lens is an oldie but has a very tiny pin that doesn't seem to fit on the new dSLR, don't even dare try mounting it. The lens may get stuck halfway through mounting. If you want that lens, you will have to find a way to disable or remove that pin first. The pin is not exclusive to Ricoh so beware. Since the Pentax K-x comes with the 18-55mm lens which will take care of about 90% of your photography I suggest using it for a few months before even thinking about another lens. Why? Because during that time you'll get a better idea for what type of photography you like doing the most and you'll learn the capabilities and limitations of the 18-55mm lens. You can also use that time to read this book: 'David Busch's Quick Snap Guide to Using Digital SLR Lenses'. http://www.dbusch.com Suppose someone tells you that you really "need" the Pentax 55-300mm because they have it. Over the next 3 or 4 months you may decide that you love landscape and macro photography. You may discover that you like low-light photography without a flash. The 55-300mm lens is not the lens you'll use for those types of photography. You will have wasted your money. For landscapes the SMC Pentax DA 12-24mm f4.0 ED AL (IF) would be a good choice. For macro photography the SMC Pentax D FA 100mm f2.8 Macro would be a good choice. For low-light photography the SMC Pentax FA 50mm f1.4 is your lens of choice. So buy the camera with the standard lens and don't even think about another lens for a few months. Read Busch's book. I suggest buying a Haze/UV filter to protect the front element of your lens, a circular polarizer (used to darken a blue sky and to remove glare/reflections from water, sand, glass, snow and painted metal - but not polished metal) and a good tripod when you buy the camera.
How is the pentax k-x?
hi, i just wanted to know what you think of the pentax k-x. is it worth it? what about the video? pictures? i like the red color , is there a difference?
The colour that Pentax paints their camera has no effect on the camera itself, other than make the user stand out like a sore thumb (black cameras are popular for a reason)
The Pentax K-X is a fine camera, especially if you already own some Pentax lenses you used to use with your Pentax 35 mm camera
Pentax K-x or Nikon D5000?? which should i buy?
From what i read the specs of both cameras are not much different and i could afford the Pentax k-x right now..the Nikon would take some more saving up.
is the Pentax K-x picture quality good or does it lack from the Nikon's picture quality. also i don't think i will be doing any lens shopping anytime soon. please help me decide, im stuck between this two
The Pentax K-x won the best travel gadget of 2009 in Times Magazine and won the best beginner DSLR of 2009 in Times UK.
The Pentax K-x contains a APS-C sensor with high ISO image quality that rivals that of full frames from the Sony A900 and A850. Pentax has used the exact same mount since early 1970's, the K-mount. This allows EVERY single lens made in the K-mount since the 70's to be able to fit and work with the Pentax K-x. There are also M42 lens mounts for the K-mount that allows every single lens ever made for Pentax SLR and DSLR system to work with the Pentax K-x. The Nikon does not boast this capability. The Pentax K-x has a built-in image stabilization system that helps prevent blurring photos, this allows all K-mount lenses that fit the Pentax K-x to be image stabilized, even old ones from the 1970's. The Nikon D5000 does NOT have this feature and you will have to buy more expensive lenses with vibration reduction. The Pentax K-x has a built-in screw-drive autofocusing motor, the D5000 does not. The Pentax K-x will be able to autofocus on lenses that do not have a built-in focusing motor. This allows every single autofocus lens new and old that has the K-mount to work on the Pentax K-x. The D5000 does NOT have a built-in screwdrive and cannot autofocus on most third party lenses from Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina. You will have to be the more expensive built-in autofocus motor lenses to autofocus with the D5000. The Pentax all throughout it's lifespan has a rich history of making superb prime lenses. The Pentax FA 31 F/1.8 Limited lenses is known to be one of the sharpest lens ever made. The Pentax FA 50 F/1.4 lens is known to be one of the most affordable high quality optical lenses in the autofocus 50/1.4. With the FA 31 F/1.8, FA 43 F/1.9, and FA 77 F/1.8 Limited series lenses, there is no going wrong with Pentax lenses. The Pentax K-x has been reviewed by many websites all over the web and has been praised by it's ability to boast so much in such little price and in such a little body. It also comes in red, white, and blue colors. Do I need to say more? Any more facts need to be added? I already added up supporting sentences. While everybody who says Nikon this or Nikon that will just say Nikon because Nikon is Nikon. The fact is I say Pentax because Pentax has THIS and it has THAT which others don't have. Now which are you going to choose? Nikon because someone tells you that it's Nikon or are you going to choose what's BEST FOR YOU? Pentax.
Pentax K-x or Canon xsi?
the video recording feature on the pentax k-x would be nice, but is there a major difference between the picture quality of the two cameras?
Whenever you see a serious DSLR camera offered in choice of different color, it makes me a little suspicious. Red or Navy is not color for professional camera.
Besides that, Canon is superior DSLR camera over the new Pentax. I always recommend Canon over any other DSLR camera due to their CMOS sensor and their lens comparability Canon XSi is a great entry level camera but have feature of their high end serious.
Pentax K-x vs Nikon D5000 vs Canon T1i?
Which is better overall camera for the value? Video? and kit lens
Pentax K-x kit for $550 Nikon D5000 kit for $645 Nikon D5000 body for $550 Canon T1i kit for $719 Canon T1i Body for $620
The better camera for the value is Pentax K-x, which you may buy with single or double kit lenses for a very convenient price.
Image quality is similar for all three models. However, Nikon D5000 is more difficult to use for the advanced photographer, who might want to change the setup before each shot; you've got to press a lot of buttons to achieve the custom setup you want. Canon T1i is exactly the opposite of the Nikon in this respect; it has additional buttons for quick setup and also changing settings from the menu is very quick. Pentax K-x can be set up just as quick as Canon T1i, but it has a design flaw (it lacks confirmation of the focus point in the viewfinder, when setup to select the focus point automatically) which can handled with a bit of attention. Therefore, if you are an advanced photographer (or willing to become one) and you're willing to spend a lot of cash on lenses, Canon T1i is the obvious choice. If you are an advanced photographer but you don't want to spend a lot of cash (on camera and lenses), Pentax K-x is the choice. Otherwise, if you just want to point and shoot and you don't want to worry about auto-focus confirmation, Nikon D5000 may be the answer.
Does a Nikon D5000 or a Pentax K-x have better HD Movie quality?
I'm trying to decide which one and that would be my deciding factor.
THAT is a totally subjective opinion.
You will have to take a SDHC card with you into a store that sells both and take some test shots. Then at home using your large computer monitor, look at the results from both cameras. Putting so much of your choice of a DSLR still camera, based upon a video feature that is really best done using a real video camera is a little silly when you think about it. Sort of like asking which luxury car is best off road, when owning a 4x4 is a much better choice
Nikon D5000 vs Pentax K-X?
I am a Photography and Film making Major. and I am looking for a DSLR camera that has HD Movie Mode as well as high megapixel photos for cheap so I narrowed it down to the Nikon D5000 and Pentax K-X. I want to know which one is better, like which one has better scene modes, etc. and what are their pros and cons, etc.
I really hope you are not thinking of using a DSLR to produce videos for your class assignments.
If nothing else, you need some experience using a 16 mm motion picture film camera (available from your school). At the student level, HD is not necessary. Especially since the HD is only a technical term for images that have a 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution @ 24 to 30 fps. None of them can compare to a true HD video camera which have THREE CCD's (RGB) and produce 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 pixel images with much higher resolution than any still camera. Pick your DSLR based upon the whole system as a still camera, not one with the gimmicky video feature. Remember, the whole idea of true HD video cameras was to be able to make 35 mm theatrical release prints ... NO still camera can do that, even if they can claim HD based upon the 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution criteria Links: http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs… http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-broadca… http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/categ…
Nikon d5000, or Pentax k-x - which is better?
I understand that the Pentax k-x has in-body autofocus motors and image stabilisation whereas the d5000 doesn't...
but is this an advantage? which lenses take better photos? the ones with motors in the lenses or the ones for the Pentax? I haven't heard much about the Pentax but heard a lot about the d5000. I can get the Nikon d3000 with 18-55mm lens for £529 & £50 cashback from Nikon. or I could get the Pentax k-x with 18-55mm & 55-200mm lenses for £649 & up to £250 cashback from Pentax
You are correct. Pentax has focusing and Shake Reduction in the body. Nikon does it through the lens.
The advantage of having those technologies in-body is lower lens cost. The advantage of putting them in the lens is finer tuning that makes better lenses. Lenses, as the whole thing, not necessarily the glass. You are correct again. You won't hear much from Pentax. Nikon users brag about the specs and high-tech gear they use. Pentax users simply just shoot pictures. If you want to be in the forefront of technology go Nikon. That's what most professionals do. If you don't and enjoy taking your time getting the shot right the very first time, get a Pentax. You will have a wealth of lenses to choose from including the old but superior screwmount Takumars that would put most digital lenses of today to shame. Another reason I root for the K-x is color. If you are persistent enough, you can have the K-x in pink!
Which Camera, Pentax K-x or Nikon D5000?
So i cant decide between these two cameras......
if you want action shots, I would go with the K-x AND you're on a budget, I would go with the K-x for sure...
reason 1: from what I have seen, K-x has better ISO performance than the D5000, so you can step down on your ISO, and be able to shoot at faster shutter speeds reason 2: image stabilization... K-x has it in-body, so you don't need to buy stabilized lenses like you do with Nikon and pay twice as much... reason 3: P-x has auto-focus motor in the body, so you can buy any AF lens that fits the mount, and it will auto-focus... Nikon you need to purchase lenses with auto-focus motor built into them which have 2 characteristics: a) They mainly come from Nikon so you are missing out on a lot of quality 3rd party lenses b) they are expensive reason 4: K-x is $60 cheaper reason 4: you save yourself the embarrassment of people coming up to you and asking "Hey, is that Ashton Kutcher's camera?"... seriously, how can any brand advertised by Ashton Kutcher be taken seriously???
Is Pentax K-x a good camera?
Hi, I am looking to buy a compact entry-level digital SLR camera and while doing my research I came across new Pentax K-x. Initially was planning to buy a Canon, Nikon or Olympus but this particular model impressed me a lot. Thus I wonder if anyone have any positive/negative views on it that I should consider or any other cameras to recommend as I am slowly getting lost among all of the choices.
Mind you I am not a professional photographer, but rather interested to giving it a try. Thats why looking for something simple to start with and if I will be successful then am to upgrade later on. Also as I am planning a trekking trip to Tibet & want something light to carry with me. Mostly I take travel photos, portraits and macro shots. In terms of additional criteria: 10 or more MP, IS, smaller body, entry-level DSLR and good picture and colour quality (everything else secondary). Thus would appreciate and suggestions or views on my search! Thank you!
I have never tried this particular camera, but it looks more than enough for a beginner. Here's an interesting review:
http://www.ephotozine.com/article/Pentax… And you can see here the comparison between three Pentax K models: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0909/090917… The K-x looks like a nice balance between price and features.
Which to get: the Pentax K-x or the K-7?
I'm a sophomore in college with a photography major, and I figured it was time to upgrade from my K100d Super to something better. I've heard that the Pentax K-x is just another entry level DSLR, but what separates that from the K-7? I've also heard of the K-7 having more noise issues at higher ISOs, and that it can't handle low-light photography as well.
The issue is that I know there's a huge price difference between the two (the Pentax K-x is about half of the price that the K-7 is) so I wanted to get a few opinions before I went out and bought one. Thanks in advance!
Here they are side by side.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_… As you will see, only the K-7 uses the state of the art Li-ion batteries and is environmentally sealed. On the other hand, the K-x uses the preferred 24 fps when it shoots video Really none of us can choose the camera for you. You will have to make that choice yourself ... after all YOU are going to be the one using it, not us
Shall i get a Nikon D3000 or a Pentax K-x?
Get a pentax!
The Pentax K-x won the best travel gadget of 2009 in Times Magazine and won the best beginner DSLR of 2009 in Times UK. The Pentax K-x contains a APS-C sensor with high ISO image quality that rivals that of full frames from the Sony A900 and A850. The Pentax K-x has usable ISO up to 12800 which is a huge benefit for a entry-level DSLR. The Pentax K-x can record clear and sharp high-definition videos, the Nikon D3000 does NOT record videos at all. Pentax has used the exact same mount since early 1970's, the K-mount. This allows EVERY single lens made in the K-mount since the 70's to be able to fit and work with the Pentax K-x. There are also M42 lens mounts for the K-mount that allows every single lens ever made for Pentax SLR and DSLR system to work with the K-x. The Nikon does not boast this capability. Pentax offers high-end APS-C lenses from their DA* line-up that rivals the quality of other companies more expensive full frames. Pentax offers weather-sealed lenses in their DA* line-up that is water resistant and dust resistant with a built-in silent auto focus motor. With high quality optical and cosmetic lenses made from Pentax to support their APS-C DSLR's like the Pentax istD, K10D, K100D, K100DS, K20D, K200D, K2000, K-x, and K-7. Pentax supports their APS-C DSLR's like the K-x more than any other camera company that will support their APS-C, from all the information I gave and am about to give, you will see why Pentax supports their APS-C like other companies will support their full frames. The Pentax K-x is only a entry-level and yet it is NOT stripped down of features and boasts quality of a high-end DSLR camera. Unlike the Nikon D3000 and D5000, they are stripped and Nikon only wants to boast the bigger features for their more expensive cameras and especially its full frames. The Pentax K-x has a built-in image stabilization system that helps prevent blurring photos, this allows all K-mount lenses that fit the K-x to be image stabilized, even old ones from the 1970's. The Nikon D3000 and D5000 does NOT have this feature and you will have to buy more expensive lenses with vibration reduction. The Pentax K-x has a built-in screw-drive autofocusing motor, the D3000 and D5000 does not. The K-x will be able to autofocus on lenses that do not have a built-in focusing motor. There is even a high quality prime line-up made for APS-C sensors from Pentax alone, just look at the DA Limited lenses from Pentax, it screams out quality. The Pentax K-x has trap focusing that you can turn on. When turned on, it will not take the picture with the shutter release down unless it is in focus. This will work with all lenses ever made for the Pentax K-mount, including old M42 mount lenses. This is incredibly useful for people who are good and not so good with manual focusing at all. You don't want to take the picture unless it is completely in focus, trap focus has it. The Nikon D3000 and D5000 does NOT boast such a feature. The Pentax K-x has been reviewed by many websites all over the web and has been praised by it's ability to boast so much in such little price and in such a little body. It also comes in red, white, and blue colors. Do I need to say more? Any more facts need to be added? I already added up supporting sentences. Olympus e520 or Pentax K-x?
I'm interested in these two cameras and I can't decide which would be better to get. Could anybody help with me? The main points of the Pentax over the Olympus are movie mode and better low light performance. However the Olympus supposedly comes with a very good kit lens and is cheaper. Does anybody have either of these cameras? If so, could you tell me what you do/don't like about them? Also, is there a cheapish adapter to use Olympus OM lenses(or other legacy lenses) on the Pentax? I'm on a rather small budget and won't be able to upgrade to new lenses very much (perhaps a fast prime if I can, but thats it.)
While the first half of what Edwin said is true, his latter argument fails to consider that, because the Four Thirds system has the shortest flange to focal plane distance, Olympus DSLRs actually have access to the widest selection of legacy lenses—Pentax K-mount and OM included among many others. The only difference is that the FLM for Olympus is 2x compared to Pentax's 1.6x.
There is no adapter that allows focus to infinity available between OM lenses and Pentax bodies.
The Olympus E-520 does come with two of the better kit lenses in the market so this is a plus if you're on a budget. However, it's pointless if you're not comfortable with the other components of the system. While it's true that the K-x preforms better at the higher ISOs, the significance of such a slight difference is debatable. The fork in the road is really whether or not you want HD video. If you do, the choice is obvious. However, if HD video isn't important to you then the E-520 is certainly a worthy opponent. At this point, the best thing to do is to visit a shop with both the E-520 and K-x in stock and to test both in your hands. You should also view some image samples to aid your decision.
If you want my personal opinion:
I had almost the exact problem a few years ago—deciding between the E-510 and the K100D. I ultimately went with Olympus. While I certainly have been frustrated by its limitations, it continues to hang from my neck whenever time comes to shoot.
Olympus E-620 or Pentax k-x?
I am going to buy either of these two tomorrow.
I am 17 and very interested in photograpy. I am pretty good at it, so i believe that it is the eye of the photographer, and not necesarrily the quality of the camera. Even though, it helps alot. I love shooting macro, and wide angle.. i will also be purchasing a fisheye lens in the future.. So which one do you recomend, and any tips?
Not a lot in it really. Pentax far better high ISO performance. Not sure if Oly has HD video. Crop factor 2x on Oly, 1.5x on Pentax. Doubt if you would see any IQ difference between them in normal shooting.
Pentax k-x vs. Nikon D90 - which is better?
The Pentax k-x is more comparable to the Nikon D3000 class of cameras, but is a perfectly good DSLR. The D90 would compete with the Pentax K-7.
Either has plenty of bells and whistles to play with. Both can use lenses made well before there was such a thing as digital cameras. If nothing else, let your budget decide.
Should I get the Pentax K200d or Pentax K-x?
I don't care about live view(I prefer view finder), or video(why would I need this?). I like the top lcd, and the raw button. The biggest thing is weather sealing. I want to take this camera everywhere, so I can't be stopped by a small storm or a dusty day.
The K200D is weathersealed, and the K-x is not. The K200D is still the smallest, lightest thoroughly weathersealed DSLR ever made.
The main advantages of the K-x over the K200D are that it's smaller, lighter, can shoot at higher ISO with good results, and has a higher frame rate (more frames per second). But none of that will matter if it stops working because water got inside or too much dust got inside. The K-x is a great camera too, and if you had said that small size and weight, and shooting in dim light, was most important, and that you didn't mind leaving it inside when it's rainy or dusty, then I would have suggested the K-x. Regarding the raw button, I suggest always shooting raw, because you never know when some casual snapshot will turn out to be a favorite, and raw gives you so much more leeway in correcting errors such as under or over exposure. If you always shoot raw, there's no need for a raw button.
WiIl a SMC Pentax-A zoom 1:4 28- 135 mm work on a Pentax DSLR?
Does anyone know if such zoom ( bought back to the 80's together with a Pentax Super A) will work with a Pentax K-x ?
The Pentax-A 28-135mm f/4.0 (1984 - 1991) is 100% compatible with all Pentax and Samsung DSLRs, including the Pentax K-x.
Please disregard the misinformation you were given in another answer about having to dismantle something. You will NOT need to dismantle anything. You will need to set the lens' aperture ring to A, and set the aperture on the camera instead of on the lens. Other than that, you use that lens in exactly the same way you used it on your Super-A. Of course, you'll need to manually focus it, since it is a manual focus lens. That will be a bit more of a challenge on the K-x than on the Super-A because the K-x focusing screen doesn't have a split-image/microprism focusing aid. You might want to check with Katz-Eye to see if they plan to offer a focusing screen for the K-x. I've been using a Katz-Eye focusing screen in my Pentax *ist D since 2004 and I'm very happy with it: http://www.katzeyeoptics.com/cat--Pentax… Alternatively, you could look for the old Pentax 1.7 AF Adapter, which will make it auto-focus, though it will also turn it into a 50-230mm f/6.8 (approximately). But it's been selling for more used than it cost new.
How many 12.4 megapixel RAW photos and how much 720p video can a 16 gb sd class 6 card hold?
Just got the new Pentax k-x camera and was wondering how much a 16 gb sd card holds
I listed some charts I found that may be of help. The links are below. I also listed some links to dealers in case you need to get more cards. At a quick glance Adorama had some nice Sandisk SDHC prices I thought. The video can eat up some storage.
I am very interested in hearing some feedback about that model of Pentax. So please e-mail me if you post images and/or video online. http://www.lexar.com/digfilm/capacity_ch… http://www.kingston.com/flash/sdhc_micro… http://www.kokeytechnology.com/hardware/… http://www.imaging-resource.com/ |
